“The forest is a Swedish emblem, an archetypal environment, a place of retreat that stimulates imagination and creativity, and a perfect metaphor and example of a dynamic, creative and interconnected ecosystem. Interpreting this image of the forest both architecturally and scenographically, the pavilion itself becomes a spectacular statement of Swedish identity.”.
Alessandro Ripellino Arkitekter, Studio Adrien Gardère and Luigi Pardo Architetti have together won the international competition to design the Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The pavilion was inaugurated on 1 October 2021
The perspective drawings conceived a surface made of opus signinum, contrasting with the metal light features: the stairway and the big arbour.
