Les Folies de Neuilly
The competition announced by Neuilly sur Seine commune, which was part of the renovation project “ Les Allées de Neuilly”, involved the construction of 19 pavilions along Avenue Charles - de - Gaulle, built on the main axis between Porte Maillot and Pont de Neuilly.
These pavilions, which were built with the aim to enhance consumers’ experiences and become a trade and travel hub for the whole neighbourhood, feature: a concept - store, cultural spaces and showrooms.
The surface of the project involved two possible dimensions, the former 27 sq.m. and the latter 41 sq. m., with a calculated height that was not supposed to be higher than the tree crowns.
Luigi Pardo Architetti in collaboration with Atelier Cortile have presented a two-separate heights structure, which is endlessly convertible thanks to a combination of 3 options: a building envelope, the interior arrangement of the ground floor and the installation of an interior open frame on the first level. The installations have a specific function, both environmental and/or identification; on the other hand, they can also be used for recurrent artistic interventions that make the area an attraction both for locals and tourists.
Right from the beginning, the project was conceived in order to have the lowest use of sources, within the concept of circular economy, thanks to a system that employed prebuilt assembly, with the same features the pavilion is made up of, which can be further reused within the productive cycle.
The adaptable structure will host events, parties and commercial activities (ground floor level). This distinction of the functions will be outlined by the choice of facade and the type of layout that will be arranged with the lessors/ operators.
